WAVE® Microbial Analysis System

The WAVE Microbial Analysis System is a powerful tool for detecting
bacteria in mixed populations. The future of clinical, food and environmental
microbiology lies in detecting the so-called "non-culturable" organisms living
in small groups, or analyzing polymicrobial organisms that are generally thought
of as living in fastitious or anaerobic conditions. Once approach to detect
these organisms is to use broad-range, or consensus primers targeted at a common
molecular 16S rRNA gene for PCR (polymerase chain reaction). The WAVE Microbial
Analysis System, based on DHPLC technology (denaturing high performance liquid
chromatography), rapidly separates and collects these mixed 16S rRNA gene amplification
products providing definitive bacterial identification.
The WAVE Microbial Analysis System:
- Separates mixed 16S rRNA gene amplification products of similar size
- Automates collection of individual components of the mixed 16S rRNA gene
amplification products
- Provides individual components for further molecular analysis such as DNA
sequencing, T-RFLP, etc.
This system comes standard with the FCW200 WAVE Fragment Collector.
